Evaluation Activity 6

I used a handheld digital camera for all of my photos. The standard of photos taken was good
To steady the image I was taking,  I fixed the camera ontop of a tripod which allowed me to adjust where the camera was. I learned how to perfect my images by doing this. Taking a photo freehand would probably make the image less structured and unprofessional, but using the tripod my photod were quite the opposite. The tripod also allowed me to adjust the height of the camera, so I could focus on certain angles, eg. I could move the camera up if I was focusing on the models face.

I used handheld and standing lights to change the brightness of the photo. I learned that I could put emphasis on both background and model from the lighting. The lighting was also vital to the mood of the photos. I could use light on just to shine on the model to create drama. I could have a dark background or model to create sadness, or brightness to create a positive mood. It really helped me be able to distinguish my photos and make them suitable by putting emphasis on a certain person, feature of a person, object, or to get rid of unwanted shadows. Lights played a big part in the quality and effectiveness of my shots.

Throughout the production of my magazine, I used photoshop for my front cover, contents page and double page spread. By using Photoshop I could change the size and resoloution of the photos, and add text. I learned how to produce magazine pages with competance because of photoshop. I could make it resemblant to other magazines, with the text anchoring the image,to show the masthead and magazine headlines. I had never used Photoshop before, but gradually through the task I become accustomed to it. This allowed me to edit my photos, and enhancing them to look better and more professional for my magazine. By changing the contrast, editing features that I did not want or at least changed in the photo, I was able to alter my photo as I pleased to make it look how I felt best, and it certainly helped make them look more proffessional.

To annotate magazine pages, and my own magazine pages (in Evaluation Activity 5) I used Flickr. I used the notes tool to describe different aspects of the magazines, and how sections of my magazine compared to others. I had never used Flickr before, and I found it a very useful interms of annotating my work, a lot better than other applications I had used to do much the same job before. Being able to specify information of the different concepts of my magazine pages by annotating these certain points helped convey the information clearly.

The work produced was uploaded to my blog. This was a very useful outlet for my work, and the comments page enabled feedback to be given to me to enhance and edit my work. The blog is also very accessable for my teacher. It was an easy way to keep track of my work from home, and I was able to my blog from outside of school as well as inside. It was simple to upload, flickr, prezi and jpeg. folders aswell, so outletting my work onto my blog was not over complicated. Furthermore, even when absent, my teacher can give me feedback on my blog, as I stated prior, the blog is accesable on the internet from home. This again has helped me a great deal, as even if my teacher is not present I can still improve my work and take her opinions into account.

  1. A tripod doesn't really count S technology. Write about how the blog has been a useful tool for feedback from afar, how photoshop allowed you to alter images. Don't describe, honk about what it has enable you to achieve. How would your mag look if you hadn't used it?
