This is the first sketch for the front cover of my magazine. Although the sketches do differ somewhat from the actual magazine I want to produce in terms of the quality, they do posses some of the conventions that I want to use in my magazine. One of these conventions is creating familiarlarity with the genre, by putting green bass lines over the masthead.
The model standing in the middle of the page with a speaker on his shoulder and anchoring the main text is what I intend to do. Furthermore I have other content that is in the magazine, shown on the front cover. I have many typical conventions of music magazines aswell as including some of my own.
This is my sketch of my planned contents page. Like many magazines the contents is clearly labelled, aswell as the different sections in which the the content is seperated into. I have created familiarlarity in my contents pagemy putting the speaker and bassline over the title of the contents page just like I did with my front cover.
I have two images from main content on the contents page. They are accompanied with text so the audience can see more information on the article if the picture attracts them or vice versa. For these main pieces, I have included more text to show a bit more depth to it and gives the audience more information on it.
This is a sketch for a planned photo on my contents page. Again I changed my mind about this photo and altered it somewhat in the actual construction of my magazine. The original plan was to have the model lying nonchalantly, with no real emotion on his face. It is supposed to give the impression of a lack of care towards the audience. The audience would be intreged by this.
This is a sketch for a photo on my contents page. Although I changed my mind about this photo, I intended to have a dark background with the light shining on the character with an angry expression on his face and his fists raised and pumped in the air. Gives the audience the idea that the model is a fierce and outlandish. They will be intised to read on.
This is a plan for the photo on my front cover. I have the model standing holding a speaker on his shoulder and looking a little bit aggressive at the camera. Also accoompanying this is a description of the lighting and background of the photo. The tone of the photo is one with attitude and authority. Being the main figurehead of the magazine, it is vitally important that he is shown to be important.
This is the plan for the photo my double page spread. I intend to create a sombre mood, with a dark background and the light shining on the character, with a sad look on his face, looking at the floor, with his hood up standing at a 45 degree angle. It would also link with the article on my double page spread, which has a very depressing tone and the model talks about his struggles with drugs.
